Here are five tidbits of news and information we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

Twice a week, Brighton Patch will post a snapshot of something from around Brighton. Readers are asked to guess the location of where the picture was taken. It will be like a virtual tour guide of Brighton.

1. The weather

Today will be cloudy, with a 90 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon, and a high near 51 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 30 degrees.

2. Gasoline prices

Here's a quick survey of the lowest per-gallon prices for regular gasoline in the Brighton area as of Monday night, according to DetroitGasPrices.com via GasBuddy.com:

  • Costco, 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd: $3.39
  • Sunoco, 602 W Grand River Ave: $3.45
  • Meijer, 8650 W Grand River Ave: $3.45

3. Daughter of the American Revolution meet

The Philip Livingston Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will hold its Christmas meeting at the First United Methodist Church, 1230 Bower Street, Howell, today at 1 p.m.

4. Annual Tree Lighting

Join the Whitmore Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Northfield Library staff in welcoming the season, by lighting the evergreen tree in front of the library today at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served and Santa may even make an appearance! All ages are welcome. Please dress warmly as this event will be held outdoors.
