Check out the weather, fuel prices and more for Oct. 30, 2012.

Here are five tidbits of news and information we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

Twice a week, Brighton Patch will post a snapshot of something from around Brighton. Readers are asked to guess the location of where the picture was taken. It will be like a virtual tour guide of Brighton.

1. The weather

Today will be rainy, with an 80 percent chance of showers, wind gusts as high as 41 miles per hour and a high near 41 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will be cloudy, with a 50 percent chance of showers, and a low around 36 degrees.

2. Gasoline prices

Here's a quick survey of the lowest per-gallon prices for regular gasoline in the Brighton area as of Monday night, according to DetroitGasPrices.com via GasBuddy.com:

  • Costco, 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd: $3.39
  • Marathon, 5756 Whitmore Lake Rd near: $3.43
  • 7-Eleven, 11501 Grand River Rd: $3.43

3. American Red Cross Blood Drive

The American Red Cross Great Lakes Blood Services Region will host a blood drive today at the Independence Village of Brighton Valley from 12:30-6:15 p.m. Anyone 16 or older can donate as long as he or she is in good health and weighs at least 110 pounds. Appointments are preferred, but walk-in donors are welcome, space permitting. For more information, call (800) 733-2767 or visit www.redcrossblood.org.

4. Band-O-Rama

Brighton High School Bands proudly present Band-O-Rama on today at 7 p.m. at the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts. The concert will feature the Concert Band,  Symphony Band, Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, and the MARCHING 250.  Tickets are $5 and are available at Cooper and Binkley Jewelers and at the door. All proceeds to benefit the Mr. K Scholorship fund.
