1. The weather

There will be a 20 percent chance of rain today after 7 a.m., otherwise it will be mostly cloudy with a high near 43 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The chance of rain will increase to 90 percent tonight, with a low around 40 degrees.

2. Gasoline prices

Here's a quick survey of the lowest per-gallon prices for regular gasoline in the Brighton area as of Sunday night, according to DetroitGasPrices.com via GasBuddy.com:

  • , 11501 Grand River Rd.: $3.15

3. Christmas Boxes for the Troops

The VFW and The Ladies Auxiliary of Post # 4357 will be packing Christmas boxes today at 7 p.m. at the , located at 10590 E. Grand River. Items needed are beef jerky, energy drinks, drink mixes, homemade cookies, (wrapped and in plastic ware), cracker and cookie snack packs (cheese, peanut butter, etc). antibacterial or baby wipes, eye drops, lip balm, razors, shave cream in bar soap form or plastic tubes (no cans), toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, packaged AA or AAA batteries, decks of cards, frisbees, Hacky Sacs, baseballs, footballs, basketballs and homemade cards and letters. Monetary donations are also welcome for postage (in the form of a check made out to Ladies Aux. VFW Post 4357). Please give monetary donations in a sealed envelope to the bartender on duty. 4. Brighton School Board Meeting

The Brighton Board of Education will meet tonight at the at 7 p.m. On the agenda, Superintendent Greg Gray will present proposals for a bond issue and sinking fund.
