Good Morning Brighton – The Homecoming Game Edition

Check out the weather, fuel prices and more for Oct. 7, 2011.

Here are five tidbits of news and information we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

And remember, always included in this Monday-Friday feature is a video from someone wishing everyone "good morning" as part of a message to our community. Today's message comes from the varsity football team.

1. The weather

There will be patchy dense fog before 8 a.m., and then the day will turn sunny with a high near 78. degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low of 53 degrees.

2. Gasoline prices

Here's a quick survey of the lowest per-gallon prices for regular gasoline in the Brighton area as of Thursday afternoon, according to DetroitGasPrices.com via GasBuddy.com:

  • , 11501 Whitmore Lake Rd.: $3.35
  • , 9925 Spencer Rd.: $3.35

3. Homecoming Parade & Football Game

Watch the Brighton High School homecoming parade as the 2011 homecoming court, Brighton school administrators and fall sports teams make their way down Main Street to the Dog Pound high school football field at 6 p.m. Then stay to cheer on the football team as it takes on Howell High School at 7 p.m. Tickets for the football game go on sale at 2:30 p.m. and cost $5.

4. Brewed in Michigan 2011 Beer Tasting

Support Michigan breweries from 7-10 tonight at Bakers, 2025 S. Milford Rd. in Milford. Tickets cost $35 and include a souvenir beer mug, 12 pours from on-site brewers, six taste tickets from local restaurants and a door prize raffle ticket. The breweries include Short's, Founders, Bell's, Big Rock, New Holland and Arcadia. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Huron Valley Promise.

5. Trivia

Old Town Hall was renamed the COBACH Center. What does COBACH stand for and what organizations operate out of the building?
