Hazardous Weather Expected Wednesday Afternoon, Evening

Residents can expect wind gusts of 70 mph and large hail.

hazardous weather outlook has been issued for portions of southeast Michigan, including Brighton, for Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the chance for thunderstorms will increase this afternoon, and continue into the evening as a warm front will move into the area.
"Due to the degree of instability and atmospheric wind shear expected by late today, some of these storms may become severe," the outlook states.

The primary hazards of these storms will be:

  • Damaging wind gusts to 70 mph
  • Large hail, up to one-inch in diameter
In addition, there is the possibility for isolated tornadoes, most likely along or south of I-94.

Lingering storms throughout the night may produce heavy rain and localized flooding, according to the NWS. The storms are expected to move east, through the area, at 30 mph.
