Independence Day Events in Brighton

Fireworks at Hudson Mills Metropark

What: Kick off your Fourth of July celebration early with fireworks the night before at the Hudson Mills Metropark.

When: Sunday, July, 3 at dark. It is recommended to arrive earlier than 9 p.m., when the park gates close for the night.

Brighton Lions Pancake Breakfast

What: A pancake breakfast for anybody and everybody, put on by the

When: Monday, July 4 from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Where: At the Brighton Lions building, behind the Buon Gusto restaurant on Main Street.

Cost: $3 for children, $4 for seniors, $5 for adults

Hungry Duck Run

What: A half marathon and 5K through Brighton sponsored by the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club to help raise money toward feeding the hungry in the county.

When: Monday, July 4. The half marathon starts at 7 a.m. and the 5K starts at 7:15 a.m.

Where: The race starts and ends at , and the course winds itself throughout Brighton.

Cost: The half marathon costs $50, the 5K $30. Registration can be done online at the Hungry Duck Run website or at at 9936 E. Grand River Ave. in Brighton. Race day registration is available at the starting line (St. Paul's) by 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Duckling Dash

What: A race for kids 10 and under in downtown Brighton during the Hungry Duck Run.

When: Monday, July 4 at 9:30 a.m.

Where: Downtown Brighton on Main Street

Cost: Free, just show up the day of.

Brighton Independence Day Parade

What: An annual parade sponsored by the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club featuring floats from local businesses, classic cars and a handful of local World War II veterans serving as grand marshals.

When: 10 a.m., Monday, July 4

Where: Parade starts at the  and proceeds down Main Street to Seventh Street, ending in the parking lot.

Cost: None

Great Duck Race Raffle

What: Another event put on by the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club. People can buy numbered raffle tickets, with each number assigned to a small plastic duck. All the ducks are boated out to the middle of the , where they are dumped out and begin "racing" toward the finish. The ducks that reach a certain point the fastest win prizes, with the top 25 listed here, including a first place prize of a Caribbean Sunrise Cruise.

When: Monday, July 4 immediately after the Independence Day Parade.

Where: Near the Mill Pond.
