Harpbeat presents music, songs and instruments of Australia Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11: 15 a.m.

The invites kids and families to hear the rich, rhythmic sounds of Australia on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. with a musical performance by Harpbeat. The program, Australia Down Under, is part of the Youth Department’s Summer Reading Program, “One World, Many Stories.”

Harpbeat offers a dynamic way of introducing children to world geography through songs, rollicking fun and interactive hands-on demonstrations. Kids will be whisked away on a magical, musical tour of the world using the harp and ethnic percussion instruments like drums and the didgeridoo, an aboriginal instrument.

While singing, moving and laughing to the music, children will hear positive messages about themselves and the world in which they live. Harpbeat presents many exciting aspects of the world to children by featuring foreign and sign languages within their songs. Kids will celebrate several continents, diverse languages, and cultures from Mexico, to Egypt and Japan to Zaire.
