Two informational meetings will be held on May 17 at Brighton Township Hall to discuss proposed improvements to the I-96/US-23 interchange.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has proposed constructing six new through-lanes on I-96 between the current eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway, along with building three new bridges over northbound and southbound US-23, and over Old US-23.
The existing lanes of I-96 will become collector/distributor (CD) lanes as a way to help ramp traffic move smoothly through the interchange. The existing six bridges over US-23 and Old US-23 also would be rebuilt.
At the open house, MDOT will explain the status of the study, proposed improvements and timeline, and the process involved for affected homeowners. The public will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide comments on the proposed changes at the meeting.
The meetings will take place from 12-2 p.m. and from 5-8 p.m. Call 810-229-0550 for more information.
