Week in Review: New Businesses Come to Brighton, First Day of School and More
A summary of news for the week ending Sept. 10.
Here is what you might have missed in Brighton news this week:
- On Monday and Tuesday we brought you news of two new businesses coming to Brighton: and occupy the first floor of the former Next Generation building at 209 W. Main Street and will take over the site known by residents as the "Pink Hotel" at 500 W. Main Street.
- Tuesday was the first day of school and we brought you a story of everything you need to know, including start and end times for all schools, new equipment, changes in class sizes and much more. We also went out to snap pictures and talk to students and parents about the start of the new school year.
- On Thursday, we told the story of three Macomb Township friends and their 168 mile trek from Holland to Detroit to raise money and awareness for East Africa. The trio is passing through Brighton Sunday.
- Also on Thursday, we brought news of the top three Brighton Area Schools administrators 7 percent paycuts and similar contract negotiations currently ongoing for school principals.
- On Friday, we told you about the Meatloafers charity grill team and their efforts to raise money for cancer research during the Smokin' Blues and Barbecue Blues Festival. We also showed you scenes from the festival from Friday night.
