Weekend Picks: Pancakes, Free Kids Movies and Ghost Tours

Here are a few things to do in and around Brighton this weekend.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Don't worry: Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our picks for this weekend:

1. Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

Where/when: , 850 Spencer Rd., 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Why go? The Brighton Senior Center will cook up yummy pancakes in order to raise money for the center. For more information, call 810-299-3822.

Pricing: $5 per person, includes pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee.

2. Pick Your Pumpkin Hayrides

Where/when: Kensington Metropark Farm Center, 2240 W Buno Rd, Milford, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Why go? Take a hayride to and from the Kensington Metropark Farm Center pumpkin patch where you can pick your perfect Jack-O-Lantern pumpkin. Pumpkins are priced according to size. For more information, please call 248-684-8632 or 1-800-477-3178.

Pricing: Hayride fees are: adults $5, children and seniors $3, children 2 years and younger free.

3. Free Kids Movie at MJR

Where/when: , 8200 Murphy Dr., 10 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Why go? The Brighton MJR will offer three free showings of Kung Fu Panda 2 as part of MJR's Fall Children’s Film Festival

Pricing: Children 12 and under are free; adults pay $1.

4. Hey Comics Workshop

Where/when: , 100 Library Dr., 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday.

Why go? Join Michigan artist Jerzy Drozd for the first in a three-part workshop series where you’ll learn how to make your own comics, graphic novels, and manga! Registration is required. Pricing: Free.

5. Howell Ghost Tours

Where/when: Chinese Delight Restaurant, 111 W Grand River Ave, Howell, 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday.

Why go? The Halloween season is here. This is an outdoor walking tour and attendees will want to dress for the weather conditions. Tour patrons will meet 15 minutes prior to scheduled tour time on the second floor of the restaurant. All reservations must be made in advance at www.smpghostlytours.webs.com. Pricing: $20 per adult, $35 per couple and $15 per child 16 years or younger.
