Weekend Picks: Zumba, Farmers Market and Hartland Heritage Day

Here are a few things to do in and around Brighton this weekend.

Why go: Lady of Livingston hosts a weekly donation-based Zumba class. Admission is free with a donation of either cash or personal care items for LACASA, the Livingston County organization against domestic violence. Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance-fitness program. The class lasts about an hour and runs through a number of dance routines.

2. LIVE MUSIC AT KAHUNA COFFEE

Where/when: , 1836 N. Old U.S. 23 in Howell, Thursday and Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why go: Dusty Rhodes will take the stage Thursday to perform folk music, show tunes, country music and more. On Friday, Gill Clark, a singer/songwriter will perform everything from Cold Play to Neil Young and U2.

Where/when: The corner of Mill Pond Ln. and N. 1st St., 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Why go? Spend Saturday morning strolling a market that features locally-grown produce and handmade goodies from area vendors.

Where/when: Recycle Livingston, 170 Catrell Dr., Howell on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Why go? Have up to five boxes of paper shredded by Recycle Livingston as it hosts its second shredding day. A box size should be similar to the size of a box of printer paper.

Pricing: $3 for nonmembers to shred five boxes. More than five boxes costs $1 per box. Members can shred up to five boxes free, but will also pay $1 for each additional box.

5. HARTLAND'S HERITAGE DAY

Where/when: Crouse Rd and Avon St., Hartland on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go? Hartland's Heritage Day includes scarecrows, arts and crafts, a pet parade, a petting zoo, classic cars, an antique tractor show and much more!
