West Street Parking Lot Opens Friday

New Brighton parking lot will bring 25 public parking spaces to downtown.

The new West Street parking lot, located directly behind at the corner of West and North Streets, will open to the public on Friday.

The lot formerly held and a steel shed, which were demolished last month. The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has a lease agreement with the parcel owners that allows for the improvement while preserving the DDA's opportunity to buy the land outright through a first right of refusal.

β€œThe downtown community lived with these eyesores far too long so the DDA decided to clean it up while providing some much needed parking," said DDA Executive Director Matt Modrack in a press release. "The corner now looks completely different and the property is far more marketable.”
