Brighton’s Smokin’ Jazz & Barbecue

Blues Festival
Smokes up the Streets for the 8th
Year

The Greater Brighton Area Chamber of
Commerce and 1st National Bank are pleased to present the 8th Annual Brighton’s Smokin’ Jazz &
Barbecue Blues Festival
on September 6-7 in downtown Brighton.  Each year tens of thousands of people fill the
city during this event to enjoy barbecue, jazz and blues.


A variety of barbecue vendors will line
Main Street and Mill Pond Lane serving dishes such as ribs, pulled pork, beef
brisket, pork tenderloin, turkey legs, Cajun jambalaya, six cheese macaroni and
cheese, barbecue nachos, steak fries, corn dipped in honey butter, peach
cobbler, corn bread, apple coleslaw and much more. Food will be served 5 p.m.
until midnight Sept. 6 and noon until midnight Sept. 7.


The beverage garden, located in the
music venue in the City of Brighton’s municipal lot, will serve beer and wine.
The beverage garden will be open from 5 p.m. through midnight both Sept. 6 and
Sept. 7. Only those aged 21 and over will be allowed in the beverage area after
9 p.m. A giant 24-foot screen will feature the U of M-Notre Dame football game;
kickoff is at 8 p.m.

Each
night there will a diversified array of jazz and blues artists culminating with
Detroit’s own Bettye LaVette, headliner for Saturday night. LaVette is

nationally known in the blues world and has had a number of singles hit the

charts. Her album, "The Scene of the Crime," was nominated for the

Grammy Award, "Best Contemporary Blues Album of the Year” in 2008. Other live music will be performed by
Sean Dobbins Organ Quartet, Ben Sharkey, Laura Rains & the Caesars, Rusty
Wright Band, Paul Keller's At Sundown, Nighthawks Jazz Orchestra and Mike
Morgan & the Crawl.


Admission to the music venue is $5 after 6:00

p.m., and is free before then. Those 18 and under are also free when

accompanied by an adult, and are welcome until 9 p.m. each night.

Blues festival is certainly a signature event for Livingston County,” stated Pam
McConeghy, President and CEO of the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce.
“It has brought a considerable amount of attention to downtown Brighton and has

helped to stimulate its vibrant economy. The festival brings jazz, blues and

barbecue enthusiasts to Brighton from all across the region. We’re looking

forward to another successful event, and for our downtown to once again be
packed to the max!"
