Celebrating Local Veterans — Oakland County Group Holding Ceremony to Thank County's Vets

If you’re looking for an opportunity to thank a US Military veteran this weekend, the Veteran’s Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association is offer you that chance.

On Friday, Nov. 8, the Veterans Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association will hold a special event — 2013 Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony — to honor the veterans living in and around Oakland County.

The ceremony will also afford grateful civilians the opportunity to thank the service men and women in the US Armed Forces.

In attendance providing a keynote address will be Lt. Col. Harry Stewart, United States Army (Ret.), who flew combat missions in World War II with the famed “Red Tails.”

Also on hand providing remarks will be local veterans Capt. Michael D. Schloff, United States Marine Corps and Vietnam veteran, and Lt. James P. Cunningham of the United States Navy.

Proclamations will be read honoring all veterans and an a cappella version of “Men of Grace” will be performed as well. Local dignitaries will be on-hand to show their appreciation.

The ceremony is open to the public for the Friday, Nov. 8 event and will be held at the Oakland County Commissioner’s Auditorium (1200 North Telegraph Road) in Pontiac. Further information about the Ceremony, the Oakland County Bar Association and its Veterans Committee can be found at OCBA.org.
