COLLEGE A CAPPELLA NIGHT IN BRIGHTON

On Friday January 18, the Brighton High School and Scranton Middle School Choirs will host their first "College A Cappella Night".  Tickets are $10 and all proceeds will benefit the Brighton Choir Program.  The evening begins at 7:30 in the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts.  The show will feature "The Accafellas" from Michigan State University, "The Harmonettes" from the University of Michigan and "The Ebb and Flow Quartet" from Central Michigan University.  In addition, "Chicappella", the women's a Cappella group from BHS and "Notorious", the men's a Cappella group from BHS will perform.  This will be a must-see concert that benefits a fantastic organization!

The Choir Program at BHS has traditionally been one of the strongest high school choral programs in the state of Michigan.  The "College A Cappella Night" is a gala event that will raise money for the Brighton High School and Scranton Middle School choir programs while featuring some of the best young voices from local schools and colleges.  Phil Johnson, the director of choirs at Brighton High School, was actively seeking a unique fund raising idea while offering the students in the BHS and SMS choirs an opportunity to perform and to learn from other very accomplished musicians.  The proceeds from the evening will go to support the Brighton Choir Programs and will be used to purchase music and uniforms, upgrade equipment and defray the costs of choir performances and activities throughout the year.  Mr. Johnson was a founding member of "The Accafellas" while he was a student at Michigan State University.  "The Ebb and Flow Quartet" includes Ben Krinke, a BHS alumnus and former choir member.  Brighton's large number of University of Michigan supporters will not want to miss "The Harmonettes", the premier a Cappella women's group on the Ann Arbor campus.

The College A Cappella Night in Brighton will be held Friday January 18, 2013 at 7:30 PM in the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Brighton High School.  Tickets are $10 and all proceeds will benefit the Brighton Choir Program.
