Detroit Wine Organization and Team Joseph Join Together for Wine Tasting Fundraiser

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher, Rick Porcello, and University of Michigan neurologist and researcher, Dr. James Dowling are serving as honorary chairmen and are scheduled to appear at the “In Vino Speranza – In Wine There is Hope” wine tasting event on Thursday, Sept. 1.

The event is sponsored by the Detroit Wine Organization and will benefit Team Joseph, a non-profit organization that funds research to find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is on the grounds of the private Lingenfelter Car Collection in Brighton.  This private car collection - one of the largest in the country - has been made available through the generosity of its owner, Ken Lingenfelter.

The collection includes more than 150 unique cars in a 40,000 square foot facility.

In addition to many classic cars, several vehicles in the collection are among the most rare automobiles in the world, including a Bugatti Veyron, an Enzo Ferrari, and a Lamborghini Reventón.

“I am excited to be a part of what will be a great event for an outstanding, worthy cause,” stated Porcello.

Included in the evening will be tasting of over 70 wines, beer sampling from Michigan breweries, a strolling dinner, silent auction and live music.

“As an organization with a deep history in partnering with children’s charities through our wine tasting events, we are so pleased to be working with Team Joseph,” added DWO Executive Director, Alix Hollis. “ The DWO and its members are grateful for the opportunity to support such a worthy cause that is near to our hearts, while also furthering knowledge and appreciation of fine wine.”
