'Don't Lose Hope' for 'Wake Up Tommy' Campaign

The GoFundMe campaign for Thomas Orndorff of Brighton, who remains unconscious after a serious car accident, continues to give updates and raise money for the family.

An online campaign to raise money for Thomas Orndorff of Brighton, who remains unconscious after a serious car accident, continues to raise money for the family.

The campaign hopes to raise $20,000 for Orndorf and his mother and has already raised more than $9,000.

Sara Faraj created the fundraiser on GoFundMe.com in November. The page continues to give updates regarding Orndorff's condition. Updated on Dec. 16, the page reads:

Don't Lose Hope; Don't Lose Sight.

Thomas is not conscious. He's no longer comatose. The doctors have categories to assist treatment. On the sidelines, it's easy to draw armchair conclusions.

We don't know enough. The docs don't know enough.

It's easy to say Thomas smiled at me. That's what I want to see. I stayed by Thomas's side for the last month, awake, sweating through each night beside him. He's made facial movements that resembled smiles.

Most of Thomas's movements, however, are random. His brain is healing from traumatic injury. The doctors have assured me of their uncertainty. Thomas is surfing undefinable territory. That dude is beyond the conception of medicine.

With that, we each have the opportunity to surf with him. We're invited to come together as a force of love.

That's where I'll be.
