Learning to sit quietly is a skill that I am trying to acquire. While trying to get my yard in order, I tired and surrendered and sat on my new outdoor adult swing. While catching my breath and looking around while sitting quietly I was privy to such a show put on by nature. First, I watched a spider drop out a line and enjoy a ride on the wind. Our yard is full of bluebirds and I watched a pair land on the top of our flag pole after leaving their nest on our deck and the beautiful brightly colored male then flew under a newly planted pine tree where I watched it open it wings and land and lay flat upon the damp grass. Just to my right, in a bird house by our hammock, I heard and observed the baby birds that were able to now put their little necks up to the bird hole, probably wondering where their parents were and when they would return with the feeding. And yes, the box elder bugs were all marching up and down the posts. Learning to sit quietly is a gift that we can give ourselves and I am in the training stage of this new activity.
