Au Revoir Shelby-Utica Patch

Signing off on my last day as the Shelby-Utica Patch editor.

This will be my final post as the Shelby-Utica Patch Editor.

As of tomorrow, I will be hitting the open road to start a new chapter in my life. I am moving to the Windy City to pursue a graduate degree in journalism from Northwestern University.

A little over two years ago, Patch expanded its coverage territory to Michigan and I had the pleasure of launching the Shelby-Utica Patch website.

Since then, It's been a wild ride - literally. I have gone from refueling fighter jets in mid-air to learning how to shoot a handgun, getting chased out of a smoke shop by three men after I asked if they sold K2, and happening to be an eye-witness of a small brawl on election day between candidates and an outspoken blogger.

Patch has taught me a lot about our humble community, and opened my eyes to the wonderful and dedicated people who work tirelessly to make it a safe and thriving place to live.

I hope the site has become a useful tool to the community and I have been a faithful servant to the city I was born and raised in.

Thank you everyone who put their faith in me and Patch to deliver your important and meaningful news.

But wait... That's not the end of the Shelby-Utica Patch. Jenny Whalen, editor of the Clinton Township Patch will be taking over the site. If you have any questions, suggestions or story ideas, be sure to email her at jenny.whalen@patch.com.

Thanks, Marina, for all you've done to launch Patch in Shelby Township, and for helping me. Good Luck in Chi-town! You'll do great!

You'll be great in Chicago! You taught me a lot about getting the word out through the Patch regarding Relay For Life of Shelby Twp. I will miss you! Enjoy, be aware and stay in touch once in a while. :)

Marina, I wish you the very best. I do appreciate your coverage of news stories regarding the Shelby Township Fire Department, especially the kind coverage of stories related to my brother, Chief Gene Shepherd. I know that thought highly of you as well.
