Only Four Great Lakes?

Did you know that the Mackinac Bridge is geologically over one lake, not the "divider" between two?  That means we really have only four great lakes, not five, from a scientific standpoint.  Gary Brewer's photo in the "Celebrate Michigan Waters" exhibit,"A Night at the Mackinac Bridge," lead to a geeky discovery of facts in our house.  Lake Michigan and Lake Huron are widely considered distinct, though some sources count them as a single lake or note that they are technically a single lake, making Lake Michigan–Huron the largest fresh water lake by area in the world.   Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Michigan%E2%80%93Huron   Another neat site is http://www.mackinacbridge.org/about-the-bridge-8/ where you can learn more about the bridge, and even watch the bridge cam!  Gary has another photo, "Tahquamenon Falls," in the show, and I have two pastels, "Koi Pond," and "Sarah's Boats" among over 30 pieces all done by members of the Brighton Art Guild.  Soon the exhibit will be over, so check it out in the old town hall, CoBACH Center, 202 W. Main in Brighton, Sun-Fri 5-8, Sat 11-5.
