Whitmore Lake Portrait Group Excels

Two artists in the Whitmore Lake Portrait Group won first and second places last weekend in the Ann Arbor Women Artists Juried Summer Exhibit at the Riverside Art Gallery in Ypsilanti, at http://www.riversidearts.org/in-the-gallery.  Marty Walker and Yoshiko Mishina attend regularly at the Monday sessions held at the senior center in Whitmore Lake where live models pose for a friendly but serious group of artists who work in all media.   As Coordinator of the group for the last six years, it's my pleasure to tell you about them.  I'd like to add that Sarah Grusin, president of the Brighton Art Guild and also a WLPG member, is in the AAWA show, too.  It is her first juried show, and her work was also chosen to be on the postcard announcement that was mailed.  Yoshiko is also a Guild member (BTW, another Guild member, Baiba Jensen, won Honorable Mention in the AWAA show).   Soon the WLPG will have an exhibit at the senior center in the new lobby area where we are donating the gallery hanging system and its installation.  Watch for further news later this summer, and in the meantime, visit our Facebook group page to see what the Whitmore Lake Portrait Group is up to.   Arata, shown in the portrait here, modeled for us on Monday and is the son of a WLPG artist.
