Brighton Home Invasion and Assault Suspect Caught Fleeing on Rollerblades

The following information was provided by the Brighton Police Department and does not indicate a conviction.

A 28-year-old Brighton man was arrested on charges of home invasion and assault after fleeing on roller blades early Tuesday morning, police said.

The man broke through the front door of an apartment in Brighton Glens around 3:30 a.m., Brighton Police Chief Tom Wightman said.

Wightman said the man told police he broke in with the intention of assaulting a man who he thought lived there, but did not.

The man punched the resident, while the resident's wife protected her 4-year-old son and called 911, according to Wightman.

The resident tackled the man, forced him out of the apartment, where he fled on roller blades, police said.

Brighton Police apprehended the man near Grand River Avenue and Church Street with assistance from Green Oak Police.

Police said the resident did not require medical attention.

The man is being held in the Livingston County Jail pending arraignment.Β
