Chelsea Business Owner Faces Sexual Assault Charges; Sandwich Price Spurs Assault Charges

Area Patch sites provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt.

Plymouth-Canton Patch

Three suspects were charged Thursday in connection with an armed robbery Monday at a Verizon store in Canton.

The robbery occurred on Ford Road west of Morton Taylor Road and prompted the lockdownof four adjacent elementary schools.

Eric James-Lee Wilkins, 18, from Inkster; Antonio Jerome Porter, 18, from Inkster and Dantez Lamar Boykin-Johnson, 18, from Westland were each arraigned Thursday morning on seven charges:

• Armed robbery, a felony punishable by life or any number of years
• Breaking and entering a building with intent, a 10-year felony
• First-degree retail fraud, a five-year felony
• Receiving and concealing more $1,000 or more in stolen property, a five-year felony
• Discharge of firearms in or at a building, a four-year felony
• Committing a felony while in possession of a firearm, a two-year felony
• Breaking and entering, illegal entry without owner's permission, a 90-day misdemeanor

Chelsea Patch

Michael Radant, a Chelsea business owner accused of sexually assaulting a woman, is headed to trial in Washtenaw County circuit court.

According to Ann Arbor.com, Radant will stand trial for two counts of third-degree criminal sexual misconduct on April 8 after his attorneys were unable to reach a plea agreement.

Radant, 37, is accused of sexually forcing himself on a 37-year-old woman at his home in the 700 block of North Main Street in Chelsea last November.

According to Heritage Media, the woman testified that she and Radant drank alcohol and watched television on the night of Nov. 15, 2012. The woman received a telephone call and went into her bedroom to talk. Radant eventually followed her into the bedroom, where the alleged assault occurred on the woman's bed.

Radant remains in the Washtenaw County Jail on $10,000 cash bond.

Farmington-Farmington Hills Patch

A 57-year-old Farmington Hills man who lives in a group home for men with mental disabilities and criminal backgrounds faces charges following an attack on a 49-year-old Detroit man. 

According to a Farmington Hills Police report, the Detroit man was treated at the scene for burns caused when a liquid thought to be a mix of bleach and hot cooking oil was thrown in his face. The report indicated the man was also attacked with a knife.

When police arrived, his eyes were swollen shut, and his lips were swollen. Due to extensive burns on his body, he was transferred from a local hospital to Detroit Receiving Hospital's burn unit. 

The Detroit man caught the Farmington Hills man smoking in his room earlier in the day, which was a violation of the house's rules, according to the report.

Dearborn Patch

The price of a sandwich may be four years in prison or a fine of $2,000 for one Dearborn man.

Zachary Teeters, 26, has been charged with felonious assault after he threatened a local business owner with a knife, according toDearborn police.

Police responded to Mango's Cafe on Wednesday at around 5:30 p.m. on reports that a man with a knife had just threatened the owner of the establishment with a knife.

According to witnesses, the man called the cafe and said that he saw an offer for a $3 sub sandwich from Mango's online. The employee informed him that there was no such offer, and that the price of a sub would be $7.94. The man subsequently ordered the sandwich.

When he arrived to pick it up, witnesses say he balked at the price and again said that someone had offered him a special deal. The owner told him again what the price was and the man allegedly became angry, knocking several items off of the front counter.

He then left, and the owner followed him outside, telling him to stop. According to police reports, the man turned around and pulled out a knife, telling the owner, "Come and get me."

The man then fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended by Dearborn police, who placed him under arrest.

The man, identified as Teeters, was charged with felonious assault.

His preliminary exam is scheduled for Friday, March 8, at 9 a.m. at the 19th District Court.
