Drug Take-Back Day Deemed Success

National initiative nets 25 pounds of prescription pills in Livingston County.

The second annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Initiative netted more than 25 pounds of solid dosage medications the included highly abused narcotics such as oxycodone, hydrocodone and percodan, according to a Livingston County Sheriff’s Department news release.

The drugs will be incinerated, the release said. Going forward, residents can take  unwanted or expired prescription drugs to the lobbies of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department and the Michigan State Police Brighton Post for disposal, according to the release.

The sheriff's department is at 150 S. Highlander Way in Howell while the Brighton Post is at 4803 S. Old U.S. 23 in Brighton Township. The Livingston County Community Alliance and Mott Community College helped make the new effort possible, the release said.
