Howell Man Dies in Accidental Shooting at Brighton Gun Range

Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte identified the victim as 19-year-old Charles Robert Kimball of Howell.

A 19-year-old Howell man died Saturday after a friend accidentally shot him at a gun range in Brighton Township, according to Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte.

The victim, identified as Charles Robert Kimball, was not a member of the club, the . Kimball and the alleged shooter should not have been on club premises, Bezotte said.

The weapon was an AK-47, and the victim apparently stepped in front of the gun when it accidentally discharged, Bezotte said. The shooting occurred at approximately 12:45 p.m. Saturday.

Bezotte would not identify 19-year-old man who accidentally fired the gun.

No charges have been filed yet. The case is still under investigation, Bezotte said.
