Man Arrested for Drunken Driving With 2 Flat Tires; White Lake Driver Faces Charges After Running Into House

Area police departments provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt.

Man Arrested for Drunken Driving After Driving With 2 Flat Tires

A 36-year-old Pontiac resident was arrested on charges of operating while under the influence (OUI) in White Lake, Jan. 12 at 5 a.m., after police said he was driving down M-59 with significant damage to his car and two completely flat tires.

According to the report, an officer stopped the man after seeing the car's tail light was out and the car was sparking from driving with two flat tires. The tires were down to the rim, the report said.

When the officer spoke with the man, the report states, the man told him he was on his way to his girlfriend's house and that he thought he was driving on Elizabeth Lake Road, not M-59.

The man was given a field sobriety test, which he failed, and a preliminary breath test. The report states that the man registered a .19 blood alcohol level. The legal limit is .08.

The man was arrested and taken to Oakland County Jail and released after sobering up pending the issuance of a warrant for OUI charges.

The report states that police couldn't locate what caused the damage to the front end of the car, or the two flat tires.

Driver Faces Charges After Running Into Farmington Hills House

A 56-year-old White Lake woman faces a charge of drunken driving, after a vehicle crashed into a house in the 22000 block of Cora Street Sunday night. 

According to a Farmington Hills Police report, officers called to the home shortly after 7 p.m. found the woman standing near her vehicle. The report indicated that the woman appeared "extremely disoriented", her speech was slurred, and police noticed an odor of intoxicants while speaking with her. The woman refused a preliminary breath test, but consented to a blood test to determine her blood alcohol level, according to the report. She was taken to Botsford Hospital, complaining of back and neck pain. 

The homeowner told police that she was in the back of the house when she heard a loud crash, but did not check to see what happened until police arrived. According to the report, the home's structure was not damaged, but an attached porch was destroyed.

Neighbors who saw the aftermath told police they saw the woman in the vehicle driver's seat, the report indicated. One said the woman has been living in a neighboring house.

Wayne County Prosecutor Charges Canton Man in Mortgage Fraud Case

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged real estate agent Samer Salami, 32, of Canton with conducting an alleged criminal enterprise from August 2007 until approximately April 2010, according to a news release from Worthy's office. Salami is a real estate broker with Villa Realty located in the 25400 block of Plymouth Road in Redford, the news release indicated.

The Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) received a complaint that Salami, in his capacity as a Fannie Mae broker, was steering Fannie Mae toward low purchase offers from his company or associates, the news release indicated.

St. Clair Shores Patch

St. Clair Shores Police Find 2 People Dead in Home

St. Clair Shores Police are continuing their investigation into the deaths of two people Tuesday in a home in the 28000 block of Jane Street.

Police said they were called to the home about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday for a welfare check.

Officers observed an unresponsive male and female individual on the living room floor, and made a forced entry into the home.

Paramedics were called to the home, and confirmed the man in his 20s, and woman in her 30s, were deceased.

St. Clair Shores Police Lt. David Centala said the investigation is continuing with interviews and medical examinations. The names of the victims are not being released.

The Macomb County Medical Examiner's office said the cause of death is pending the results of toxicology reports, which could be returned within 6-8 weeks.
