Man Arrested on Unarmed Robbery and Trespassing Charges at Genoa Township Walmart

A Michigan State Police Brighton Post trooper responded to a retail fraud call Monday afternoon.

Michigan State Police responded to a retail fraud call at the Genoa Township Walmart, 3850 E. Grand River Ave, on Monday afternoon, according to a press release.

According to the release, Walmart store security personnel told police they saw a 42-year-old white male take several items and attempt to leave the store without paying for them. When store employees approached the man and asked him to follow them to the security office, the man refused, left the building and ran into the woods near the store.

Police said they found the man hiding in the woods and took him into custody on charges of unarmed robbery and trespassing. The man is awaiting court arraignment in the Livingston County Jail.
