More Than $17,000 in Smart Phones Stolen from Genoa Township Radio Shack

The following information was supplied by the Livingston County Sheriff's Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Thousands of dollars worth of smart phones and smart phone accessories were stolen from the Genoa Township Radio Shack on Grand River Road on March 1 around 7:16 a.m., according to a police report.

Police said that the store's front glass door and surrounding windows were not broken, but the door frame was bent and some of the sheet metal was ripped and torn when it was forced open.

According to the report, the showroom of the store was left undisturbed along with gaming systems and other electronics openly displayed. The cash register drawer was also left alone.

A specific shelf in the storage room was targeted, with the suspect destroying a locking mechanism to gain access, the report said.

The store manager told police after conducting an inventory that the items stolen were mostly smart phones and accessories and totaled $17,484.60.

In addition, the cost of repairs to the damaged door totaled approximately $480, according to the police report.
