Police Arrest Burglary Suspect in Brighton Township

Michigan State Police responded to a burglary call in Brighton Township on Friday afternoon.

A 20-year-old Brighton man was arrested Friday afternoon on burglary charges at the 13000 block of Windy Hollow Drive in Brighton Township, police said.

According to a press release, a 55-year-old woman was home alone when the suspect came out of the woods and asked to come inside her home to get warm and for a drink of water.

Police said the woman refused, but became fearful when the man would not leave her property. She left her house in her car, which was parked in her attached garage and then called 911 to report the man.

Michigan State Police Trooper Michael Yenshaw and Sgt. Mark Thompson responded to the call and found the man exiting the front of the woman's home. Police said the back door of the house had been forced open.

The suspect was arrested on burglary chages and is currently residing at the Livingston County Jail.
