Police Brief: Fishermen Report Being Hit by Paintballs in Brighton Township

The following information from June 29 was supplied by the Michigan State Police Brighton Post. It does not indicate a conviction.

Two men fishing in a tournament on in Brighton Township Wednesday found their peace interrupted when they reported a man started shooting paintballs at them from a house near the lake.

The fishermen, a 24-year-old from Walled Lake and a 40-year-old from Milford, told a trooper with the Michigan State Police Brighton Post that they were fishing when a man came from the house and started "shouting obscenities" at them.

They said a second man then came from the house and started shooting at them with a paintball gun. Neither of the men reports being hit with a paintball.

Police said they made contact with the shooting suspect, a 47-year-old Brighton man, and that a warrant request has been submitted to the Livingston County Prosecutor seeking assault charges.
