The Livingston County Sheriff's Department is seeking help to identify a suspect in a home invasion and assault that happened Monday in Brighton Village in Genoa Township.

Police say that the victim was a 65-year-old woman who was leaving for work when she was confronted at her door. She was eventually able to run out of the house to a neighbor who called 911, according to a press release from the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.

The suspect is described by the victim and witnesses as being in his mid 20’s, around 5’10, with a medium build and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing dark jeans and a black hoodie.

Police said that the suspect fled on foot from the residence. A Sheriff K-9 unit tracked the man through a wooded area, but ended when the trail met pavement.

The Sheriff's Department said it received tips on Friday that a red, older car, similar to a Pontiac Fiero, was seen driving around the area of the assault repeatedly during the evening hours.
