Brighton Road Rage Suspect Facing Charges in Second Incident

A Brighton man charged in an is now being accused of trying to run a Milford man off the road and forcing a collision in the same area about a month before, state police said.

The 41-year-old victim, who had two 11-year-old passengers inside a Chrysler 300 during the June 27 incident in Brighton Township, identified Stephen Blaser after his image was circulated in the media, police said in a news release issued Friday.

Blaser, who already has been accused of ramming his vehicle into a Pinckney woman's car on the Spencer Road bridge over U.S. 23 and ripping off her driver's side mirror, now will be charged with three additional felonious assault charges, one additional felonious malicious destruction of property charge and one misdemeanor charge of failing to stop and identify at a crash, the release said.

In the June 27 incident, Blaser drove his red Ford Escort erratically and tailgated the Milford man on Old U.S. 23, according to police. The male victim turned eastbound onto Spencer Road and allowed Blaser to pass him, the release said, but then police said Blaser tried to run him off the road and once past the victim, braked hard to force a collision.

The victim told police that Blaser then got out of his vehicle and "jumped on victim’s front bumper, kicked the victim’s driver side mirror off and began punching the driver side window," the press release stated.

After that, Blaser took off in his Escort, and the victim went to reported the incident. Two additional witnesses reported the incident to police, the release said.

Blaser's previous charges include five felony counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, malicious destruction of property between $1,000 and $20,000 and failure to stop at the scene of an accident.
