Singing Heroes Wanted for Chance to Win $10,000

Local police and firefighters will have a chance to win money and sing the National Anthem at an upcoming Detroit Tigers game.

Helping to honor local heroes during Fan Appreciation Week at Comerica Park, Comerica Bank is sponsoring a contest open to all police and firefighters who can carry a tune. 

The Home of the Brave National Anthem Singing Contest runs now through Aug. 18 and one lucky hometown hero will be offered the opportunity to sing the National Anthem the Detroit Tigers game on Sept. 22.

The winner will also receive 40 tickets to the game and a $10,000 grant to the winner’s police or fire station, according to a press release from Comerica.

“Local police and fire departments are the backbone of our communities, keeping us safe day in and day out,” said Mike Ritchie, president of Comerica Bank – Michigan. “This is our way of recognizing their invaluable work and saying thank you to the best and bravest.”

Police officers and firefighters interested in entering should upload a video of themselves singing the National Anthem to the National Anthem tab on the Comerica Cares Facebook page.

Entrants must be 18 years or older and a member of a police or fire department in Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw or Wayne County.

After being reviewed, the top 10 videos  selected will be uploaded to the Comerica Cares Facebook page and open for public voting. Voting ends Sept. 14 and the winner will be announced on Monday, Sept. 16.
