A Livingston County Sheriff's deputy responded to a suspicious person and possible attempted robbery call at the Advance America on East Grand River Avenue in Genoa Township on Dec. 5, according to a police report.
An employee told police that the man entered with sunglasses on, and after asked to remove them, stated it was bright outside four or five times, the report said.
The employee said she was very uncomfortable with the man's demeanor and tone so she told him that he would have to fill out paperwork and make an appointment to come back because they did not keep cash in the building, unless he wanted a check, to which the main told her to write him a check in a loud, demanding voice, the report said.
After explaining that the man would have to fill out paperwork, he stared into her eyes and asked her if she believed in God, the report said.
The employee told policed that at that point, she was very scared and grabbed her phone and told the man she had to step outside and make a call, but as soon as he saw her phone, he walked out the door quickly, according to the report.
The man is described as in his early 20's, with dark brown hair and clean shaven, approximately 6-feet tall and weighing 160 pounds. He was wearing a thigh length black or dark brown leather coat and driving a teal colored Chevrolet S-10 standard cab pickup truck.
Motorcycle accessories stolen
A man reported motorcycle accessories stolen from the 10000 block of Bergin Rd. in Hartland Township sometime between Oct. 25 and Dec. 5, according to a police report.
The man told police he stores the items there with his business partner and that he had placed his Harley Davidson motorcycle in storage. His partner placed three additional bikes in the storage area a few days later, the report said.
The man said when he went back to the storage area Dec. 5, the door was partially open. His bike was still there, but the Tour Pack with its contents and GPS were missing, according to the report.
The Harley Davidson Tour Pack with backrest and attachment was valued at $1,500. Also stolen were a Harley Davidson carbon helmet valued at $300, a Harley Davidson jacket valued at $500, which were inside the tour pack. The Garmin GPS was valued at $1,000.
GPS, drill stolen from unlocked car
A TomTom GPS and Makita drill were stolen from an unlocked car on the 11000 block of Norway Dr in Hartland between 10 p.m. Dec. 6 and 4:30 a.m. Dec. 7, according to a police report.
The homeowner told police the car was parked in his driveway, and that he had left the driver's side door unlocked.
Laptop stolen from home
A laptop was stolen from a home on the 13000 block of Bismarck in Hartland between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Dec. 7.
The homeowner told police that she was in a hurry and locked the door, but did not lock the deadbolt. When she returned, she noticed her laptop, which was left on the table in front of the couch in the front room near the door, was missing, the report said.
The homeowner also noticed her three boxes of costume jewelery were missing from her dresser drawer. More expensive jewelry and Christmas gifts were left untouched, the report said.
