Book Lovers Unite! Spring Book Sale Offers Literary Treasures

All money raised from the book sale is given back to the library for programming, equipment and services.

The Friends of the Brighton District Library will hold their semi-annual Spring Book Sale April 23-28. This book lover’s paradise offers hundreds of recent, classic and sought-after books, audio books, DVD’s, VHS tapes and CD’s for adults, teens, and children - all for a dollar or less.  All materials are gently used. Sorry, no scanners.

Not a member? No problem. Tuesday, April 23 from 5 – 9pm is Members Only Night. For shoppers wanting first dibs, this is the place to be. Simply show up at the door Tuesday evening to buy a $5 senior or student, $15 individual, or $30 family membership then step into a world of books.

The sale opens to the public Wednesday, April 24 from 10 – 9pm; Thursday, April 25 from 10am to 9pm; Friday, April 26 from 10am – 5pm; Saturday, April 27 from 10am – 5pm is Fill a Bag Day for $5 per bag; Sunday, April 28 from1 – 4pm is FREE DAY.

Having volunteered at previous sales, and shopped a few of my own, I’d advise serious bibliophiles to arrive early, zone in on an area and work quickly not forgetting to search the boxes under the tables where additional treasures await.  You can bring your own tote for convenience. If you like a more relaxed browsing pace, stop by later to peruse the lineup of items for sale.

Now in its eighteenth year, the fall and spring book sales are the largest fundraisers that the Friends hold. All money raised at these sales is given back to the Library to be used for programming, equipment and services. Library patrons from all over Livingston and surrounding counties have enjoyed popular programs and events sponsored by the Friends. Among these are the Holiday Open House, Springfest and Summer Reading Programs.

“The Friends’ personalized approach to selecting what’s offered is well received and draws people from around the county. Our commitment to having the best selection for all tastes and ages is important to us. We look forward to another record sale this spring,” said Lisa Goring, President of the Friends of the Brighton District Library.
