Brighton Planning Commission Presents 2011 Community Development Awards

Award recipients were honored during Monday night's Planning Commission meeting.

The city of Brighton Planning Commission presented its annual E.D. Ewing, Siford and Karl Greimel Awards to the 2011 recipients during its meeting Monday night.

Award recipients are selected by Planning Commission members based on who best fits each award's requirements.

E.D. Ewing Award

The 2011 E.D. Ewing Award was presented to John and Rosanne Millhouse for their home at 815 Brighton Lake Rd.

This award is given to a single or multiple-family home in the city of Brighton that, through recent design, renovation, improvements or construction of a building or home, beautifies and betters the city.

Siford Award

The 2011 Siford Award was presented to and to .

The Siford Award is given to a recent construction, remodeling or redesign project that exemplifies the city’s overall standards of appearance, comfort and community betterment.

Karl H. Greimel Award

The 2011 Karl H. Greimel Award was presented to Contracting Resources Inc. for the 205 West project β€” the new two-story office building at the corner of West Grand River and St. Paul.

The Karl H. Greimel Award is presented based upon the quality of non-building-related attributes such as landscaping, site lighting, passive recreation facilities and other attributes that advance public interest.

Planning Commission members said Contracting Resources Inc. exemplified overall excellence in best "fit" and proper utilization of land, innovation and creativity of the project and attention to architectural detail.
