The Brighton Library Supports Student Success

Free online help is available for students of all ages.

The school year is upon us and our students are gearing up for tests, grappling with complex research papers, and solving challenging problems. When they need help, look no further than the Brighton District Library. The Library offers several free online resources which are available from home for patrons with a Brighton District Library card. Whether it’s one-on-one homework help or researching a paper, help is available. You can access these homework sites by clicking the research button at the top of the Library’s homepage, scroll down to the links from the database page and see what helpful sites are available for your learning needs. Listed below are three online resources available to you.

Tutor.com is a free online homework help service. If you have a tough problem, or need a concept explained, Tutor.com offers free one-on-one homework help online with a skilled tutor in all subjects for students in grades 4-12 in both English and Spanish. This tutoring service is available every day from 3-10 p.m. It also has a 24/7 Skills Center with homework, test prep and career resources.

World Book Online is a comprehensive suite of online research tools that includes an encyclopedia, articles, student activities, pictures, audio and video, and current periodicals and web sites.

Opposing Viewpoints in Context is a great place to find sources for debates or papers on social issues or controversial topics. This database features full text essays and articles from newspapers and magazines arguing all sides of these important topics, with suggestions for further investigation.

This and other online resources are available through links from the database page on the Library website. Click the Research button at the top of the homepage. They require a BDL library card for access from home or school.
