Brighton Schools Prepare to Celebrate Brighton Nation

While summer construction projects continue throughout Brighton Schools, school officials and other members of the community are already organizing a community event that will celebrate new additions, such as the stadium, and help introduce the community to other new features that will be available in the schools for the 2013-14 school year.

"Our goal once again is to show off the things we've put in place to enhance the experience for our community and our kids," Brighton Area Schools Superintendent Greg Gray said during Monday night's school board meeting.

Brighton Nation Celebration will take place on August 29 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will be held at the new high school football stadium, however Gray explained that athletics will not be the only focus of the event.

"Because it's not just about athletics," he said. "We're going to have a vendor tent so people can play with all the new technology that is going into the classrooms, we're inviting restaurants to come and set up and we'll have a kids carnival type atmosphere."

The cost of admission will be the same as attending other school sporting events and stressing that no general fund dollars would be used to put on the celebration, Gray explained the event would run off of donations and fundraising efforts.

"There's just going to be a lot of great stuff and it's going to be a fun event so I recommend coming early," Gray said.
