WSC Academy, a tuition free charter high school, is currently registering students for this fall at our Brighton and Ypsilanti locations. As a public charter school WSC Academy will now function as its own school district allowing us the flexibility to meet the needs of every individual student.  As the sponsor of the Academy, Work Skills Corporation envisioned “Students enjoying the smaller, non-traditional learning environment, and being treated as adults” says Tina Jackson, Senior Vice President of Work Skills Corporation, a community-based employment and training organization headquartered in Brighton. Lake Superior State University will be the authorizer and Integrity Educational Services will be the management company. The focus of these three institutions is to make sure all students have an individualized successful experience.

The Brighton campus of the WSC Academy welcomes Kelly Robson as the new School Leader. She comes to us with seven years of alternative education experience in Livingston County. “WSC Academy is really focused on educating each individual student. I am excited for this new opportunity to help students find their success story,” states Mrs. Robson.

WSC Academy also welcomes Carrie Kennedy as an Educational Coordinator. She has over nine years of working with at-risk students in Livingston County. Ms. Kennedy will be working as a community liaison making sure that the students’ needs are met. This includes assisting the students with employment and matching them up with available resources.

Our new facility located at 10355 Citation Drive Suite 100, Brighton, MI accommodates a small school environment for online and project-based learning. WSC Academy also offers art classes at Studio West, an art gallery located at 111 South West Street, Brighton MI.

Classes run Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Students work obtaining their high school diploma or GED. They work at their own pace in WSC’s leading edge computer lab.

WSC Academy is able to boast a 90% graduation rate of their senior class for the 2011-2012 school year. Attributed to this success are the many programs developed for the student as an individual learner. WSC encourages students to work at their own pace and master the course lessons before moving forward. We will continue to offer student programs such as Job Club, Bright Futures, and Leadership Club.

WSC Academy continues to be a high school where students that have struggled in traditional settings find a place to learn, make friends, and grow to meet the needs of their future.

Call now to secure your spot! For more information on WSC Academy contact Kelly Robson or Carrie Kennedy at 810-534-6147.
