Maple Tree Montessori Tuition Up for Bid to Benefit Child Abuse Prevention

Local families are invited to bid for discounted pre-school tuition through 5 p.m. Friday.

Thanks to a generous donation from , local families are being invited to bid for a special price on one-year preschool tuition at the exclusive Brighton school.

Best of all, every penny will go straight to the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Livingston County (CAP).

According to CAP Program Director Deanna Norris, Sue Cherry, the school’s owner, has been donating tuition to benefit local child abuse prevention programs every year since 2005.

"So far, her generosity has resulted in more than $10,000 in support for these critical programs," Norris said. "Not only can parents save a large amount of money on a quality preschool program for their child, they will also be helping to protect other children in Livingston County from harm."

The tuition, valued at more than $4,500, is good for a half-day primary class, morning or afternoon, for the 2011-12 school year. Through a special online bidding process, families can bid to purchase the tuition at a much lower cost. The starting bid is $2,500, or parents can take advantage of the “buy-it-now” price of $3,500.

Bids are being accepted now through 5 p.m. Friday.

To place your bid, send an e-mail to cap@familyresourceliv.org. In the subject line, type: Maple Tree Tuition. In the body of the message, state the amount you wish to bid. Be sure to include your full name, phone number and e-mail address. For consideration, your bid must be at least $2,500.

The first person to bid at the “buy-it-now” price will be awarded the tuition
and the bidding process will conclude. If no bids are received at the “buy-it-
now” price, the tuition will be awarded to the highest bidder as of 5 p.m. May 20. For more information, call the CAP Council at 517-548-2200.

Serving Livingston County for more than 30 years, the CAP Council is a program of the Family Resource Center and a designated local council of the Michigan Children’s Trust Fund.

Maple Tree Montessori offers pre-school through elementary grades with individualized instruction, phoenetic reading, hands-on math, Spanish, Suzuki violin, yoga, culinary arts and nature education.
