Photo Gallery: Brighton Kids Paint the Town to Support Yes Bond Vote

A group of Brighton Area School parents, teachers and about 15 students gathered at the Mill Pond in downtown Brighton Wednesday night to "Paint the Town."

They took sidewalk chalk, window paint and posters and went to local businesses lining Main Street, asking permission to hang posters and draw on windows and sidewalks to urge voters to support Brighton Area Schools' $88.4 million bond issue.

Kelley Jontz, a Brighton parent said they were just trying to spread awareness and get people to the polls.

The bond will update technology, security, school infrastructure and athletic facilities.

Dissenters have commented on past Brighton Patch articles, uneasy about the idea of paying interest on such a bond for 33 years. They have also questioned whether these upgrades are actually needs or wants for the school district.

The bond issue will be on the election ballot on May 8.
