On Monday afternoon, succeeded in suspending a with the handle @HartlandProblems after tweets were deemed bullying and inappropriate as they were accompanied by an image of a former administrator.
A similar account exists in Brighton, under the handle @Brighton_Probs. Unlike the Hartland one, it does not use the image of a school official. The account is run by an anonymous person or persons. Tweets contain profanity, and many of them mention Brighton school teachers or others by name. The account has 444 followers.
The account pokes fun at "Brighton Problems," a joke that originated from the MTV reality TV show Jersey Shore.
"Fourteen year olds talking about abortion and smoking cigarettes at the Mill Pond @Brighton_Probs."
" ...Cruising the burg 'cause there isn't ... else to do but smoke weed."
"...wall-less stalls in the boys bathrooms."
"...using hartlands old computers because we have no money."
"...our fields for sports..."
"Sketchy Slim Shady janitor @Brighton_Probs."
"Stepping on used condoms at Homecoming #gross? @Brighton_Probs."
So, Brighton Patch wants to know:
Should school districts step in and attempt ban these fake accounts like they did in Hartland? Or are these accounts harmless?
