SELCRA After School Program Keeps Kids Active

Keep your kids active after school with SELCRA's Dog Pound Program! Various sports and activities are available for the fall!

Looking for a great way for your kids to burn off some energy after school in a fun structured environment? Then SELCRA has just the program for you! The Dog Pound is where students can play various sports with their friends and make new ones! Each sport is taught by qualified instructors and will work on various skills and techniques. There is no better way to keep your kid unplugged and active after school while you are still at work. There are multiple benefits to staying active and not living a sedentary lifestyle. Some of the benefits are maintaining a healthy body weight, feeling good, aging well, more energy, and making new friends. At the Dog Pound it does not matter what level of fitness you are at, as long as you want to get out and play! Even the NFL has started the Play 60 initiative. This campaign was started to encourage kids to be active for 60 minutes a day and help reverse the trend of childhood obesity. Although video games are fun and entertaining nothing beats the classic games that only involve you, a pair of shoes, and some friends. Session 1 of the Dog Pound is going to run from September 10-November 2. We are offering Volleyball, tennis, cross country, open sports, outdoor adventure, archery, boys lacrosse, and dodgeball. All of the descriptions for classes can be found on the SELCRA website. Registration is open until September 14. However, you will want to register early to ensure a spot and to make sure the program isn’t cancelled due to low enrollment. If you have any questions please feel free to call Caitlin H. Jones at 810-299-4209 or email at cjones@selcra.com!
