SELCRA finishes the Summer Series at the Mill Pond with Exotic Animals

SELCRA and the Downtown Development Authority brought the Safari to the Mill Pond!

School is just around the corner! For most people that means football season, fall SELCRA programs, and stepping on the crunchy leaves.

SELCRA and many others wrapped up the summer by finishing its Summer Series at the Mill Pond with the Wild Safari Day. It was a unique and fantastic show brought to you by SELCRA and the Downtown Development Authority.

Nelson’s Wildlife Safari took over the Mill Pond with a member of the raccoon family, a crocodile, a barn owl, a poisonous lizard and more! While taking the animals through the crowd and petting them you were able to hear about the creature’s origin, eating regimes, and natural habitat. Some were furry while others were poisonous, and after the show was the meet and greet where the excitement of the crowd reached a whole new level! Those who stuck around were able to get some one on one time with the animals and ask questions. For anybody involved it was a great way to spend one of the last weekends of summer.

If you can’t tell from the photos, just ask any of the parents who volunteered to hold a Python that was over 20 feet long! Along with the show people received Silly Bandz, mosaic toy, and coupon donated from Lucky Duck Toys! It was definitely a highlight for most people this summer and hopefully will be back next year!
