Coach's Corner: Brighton Soccer Advances to District Finals; Girls Cross Country Win Divisional and Conference Championship

Brighton Soccer and Cross Country coaches submit team stats from Thursday night matches and meets.

The Brighton Scocer team defeated Pinckney tonight in the District Semi-Final Game 2-0. Brighton had 13 shots on goal to Pinckney’s two. The Bulldogs also had eight corner kicks while Pinckney had none.

Goal Keeper Jack Grant recorded his ninth shout out in the win.

Chad Barribeau scored off an assist from Alex Chwalibog, who then scored the second Brighton goal assisted by Will Clark. 

Brighton will face Holt in the District Final at Holt on Saturday at 3 p.m. Brighton's record improves to 13-5-2 this year.

The Brighton Girls Cross Country team are now Divisional and Conference Champs after Thursday's win at the Conference meet (West and North divisions).

The Brighton Girls scored 71 points followed by Waterford Mott, who scored 85 points and Milford, who scored 102 points.

The team was lead by Hayley Williamson (19:36), scoring seven points; Allison Lunau (19:46), scoring 13 points; Emily Wilks (19:49), scoring 14 points; Cassidy Benedict (19:55), scoring 17 points and Lydia Baumann (20:06), scoring 20 points.

The girls race in their Regional meet next Friday, Oct. 28 at Huron Meadows.

Brighton Boys Cross Country finished in sixth place at the KLAA meet. The next meet is Regionals at Huron Meadows on Friday, Oct. 28.
