'A Celebration of the Performing Arts'

The Brighton High School Dance Company invites the community to its second annual performance, A Celebration of the Performing Arts, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 at the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts.

In addition to a night of dance, the audience will also be entertained by Brighton High School choral, band and musical theater selections.

This year’s highly anticipated performance will showcase the artistry and passionate spirit of the Company’s 13 dancers and takes “Songs from the Movies,” as its inspiration, highlighting such favorites as Footloose, Step Up 3, Grease and Legally Blonde.

A multitude of dance styles will be presented: from a bold hip-hop work to a classical tap piece you’ll revel in both professionally choreographed pieces, as well as two student-choreographed pieces.

Kathy King, artistic director and founder of Michigan Dance Project, is also the choreographer for the Company’s opening number. “These girls are so excited about dance and it shows; they’ll share that excitement with the audience the night of the performance!

Admission is $8, with a portion of the proceeds going to the BCPA. Tickets are available during lunches at the high school or online through the BCPA.
