Rec 101: Intro to Ice Fishing

The DNR will host this 2012 Winter Free Fishing Weekend event in order to engage more individuals in fishing in the local community.

This exciting, family-friendly event will include not only ice fishing demonstrations and instruction but ice skating (bring your own skates), snow snake racing, bonfire & hot chocolate, and making your own fish jig.  Instructors will be on hand to explain all the gear involved, how to drill a hole in the ice, where to find the best fish, and even how to clean them once you’ve landed them.  It will be cancelled in the event of unsafe ice, so you may want to call the park office before coming out.

This event is FREE, however a Recreation Passport is required for park entry.  You may purchase a Recreation Passport when renewing your license plate tabs at any Secretary of State office, or at any state park headquarters.
