Summer Smash Concert for Veterans

The Southeastern Livingston County Recreation Authority (SELCRA) and Chapter 5 of Michigan’s Rolling Thunder Incorporated are teaming up for the inaugural SELCRA Summer Smash Concert for Veterans.

This event takes place from 6-10:30 p.m. at Meijer Skate Park; it also includes a variety of free activities for kids of all ages. Cost is $5.

Funds raised support SELCRA's efforts to improve and maintain parks and recreation opportunities for the community as well as to give a safe venue for youth bands to play and kids to hang out and have fun. They also will allow Rolling Thunder to continue its mission

More about this event:

The SELCRA Summer Smash has two main objectives. The first is to raise money for the SELCRA Foundation and the Rolling Thunder. The second is to provide a venue for our local youth bands to play music.

Local youths need an outlet to express themselves and in the past year, the number of places for youth bands to play has declined. This event provides a cool atmosphere for kids, but also alllows these bands to get out and play music in a safe environment.

Funds raised also will support the Rolling Thunder’s mission of educating the public about American Prisoners of War, and protecting future veterans from being left behind while on active duty, while assisting all war veterans, their families and friends.
