The Fourth of July is almost here and if you're headed to downtown Brighton, here's what you need to know:
The weather
There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 78. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
The schedule
Several events will take place in downtown Brighton on Thursday starting bright and early.- 5:30 a.m. - 6:30 a.m.: Hungry Duck Run registration
- 7 a.m.: Start time for 10K runners
- 7:15 a.m.: Start time for 5K runners/walkers
- 9:30 a.m.: Duckling Dash
- 10 a.m.: Independence Day Parade
- 11 a.m.: The Great Duck Race
2013 Grand Marshal
Charles Markham, a veteran of two wars, has been chosen as the 2013 Grand Marshal for the Brighton Independence Parade on July 4.Parade route and parking
The parade will proceed west on Main Street to 7th Street, then south on 7th Street to end at the Brighton High School parking lot. Shuttles will be available between Brighton Educational Community Center and parking at Brighton High School.Fourth of July Fireworks
