Where to Buy Fireworks in Brighton

Brighton residents will be celebrating the holiday with the annual Independence Day Parade in downtown Brighton on Thursday, an although a fireworks show is not offered, for the second year, local residents can also set off Fourth of July fireworks in their own backyards.

A state law and city ordinances that went into effect last year allow consumer fireworks to be used on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, along with the days before and after each holiday.

By the way, in March, the Brighton City Council approved a Fireworks Ordinance that prohibits the use of consumer fireworks on any day other than the day before, day of, and day after a national holiday, with the addition of special event fireworks.

  • Do not approach a firework that does not go off. Because each firework is different, it is very difficult to put a timeline on how long to leave it before touching. Fireworks can be thoroughly soaked with water and discarded in the trash (not inside the house or garage) after there is no concern of a delayed ignition.
